Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by.
Welcome to my little blog about Hokkaido.
I’m Rochelle, an American and New Jersey native transplanted to Japan. I’ve been living in Hokkaido since 2004. I came here right after I finished college and just fell in love with the country. I was lucky enough to be placed in Sapporo as my first job posting as an English teacher.
Wow, I seriously can’t believe I’ve been here this long.
Be warned that most of my posts are anecdotal, which probably won’t be of much to you if you’re looking for proper information. I’ll also admit that this is the only place I’ve ever lived in Japan so my perspective is pretty singular, so I can’t offer you fair comparisons of life in Tokyo, Osaka, or even Okinawa. Everyday, thank my lucky stars to be so blessed that I live in such an awesome place.
If you can’t tell, I really really love it here.
This blog is dedicated to life in Hokkaido, particularly when it comes to travel, food, and just daily life. I do give some tips and ideas on where to travel and visit, but I also post a lot of food pics and lots of random things that fascinate me about life in the northernmost island of Japan. If you’ve traveled to different parts of the country, you’ll see that Hokkaido is unique and quite unlike the other areas of Japan.

Again, thank you for stopping by.
If you guys have any questions or comments, just reach out and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.
Happy reading!
Rochelle 😁
